unrequited 2.jpg

Plebeian I

Watercolor, 1/7/23

“This unrequited trend is no longer working

Tired of these slings and arrows,
I will either join in                           their pleasure,
           Or swear it off                                     entirely

These burdened limbs bend            to cusp the torso of                                another,

But straighten in their            attempt to push closer,

A barrier between two warm

              and well adjusted                            plebeians

which cannot be severed,

     Only massaged into                       malleable spears

That shift their gaze away              from the benign                       and towards

                  the malicious”

Plebeian II

Watercolor, 1/7/23

Pierced, they run drier than a lone tongue

Unhoused and scorched by the midday sun

As they crawl to collect themselves in the shade

They find themselves amongst the mess they had made and

hope no one will notice.

Oh, how I wish I could juggle…

When the chaff’s all chewed, old chums will chatter and regret they had no cud.

Fool

Watercolor, 1/13-14/2023

“Oh, boy! Oh, boy!
What can this be?
A looking glass that looks at me?
And there I see,
What ought to be,
But backwards, this bastard,
Not friend, but foe
And oh, I hope he does not know
My feelings towards him.
What fool is he?”
